While Wegayhu and Demeke were in Ethiopia for the dedication ceremony they also looking into expanding our mission. Our partner church, Emanuel Church of Harar, identified several orphaned girls who need help. These sweet girls were among our best volunteers when we were turning the vacant building into our medical clinic.
And now we can thank them with a home.
It only cost $100 for rent a house for them to live in. A stipend of $50 will purchase clothing, provide food and give these young ladies something rare in Ethiopia, an education.
In Ethiopia only 40% of children even finish primary school. The illiteracy rate and child work rate are very high. Education has proven to be a tool in breaking the cycle of poverty, especially educating girls.
